great food! great staff! Highly recommended!

Emily was great, very attentive and helpful. Delicious food, especially the grilled catfish platter! Their platters are abundant with great choices for sides. Convenient location a block from the maddening crowds if you need a break. They play awesome music, too!

I could say I love Ernst Cafe because of its charm, character and history, as well as the friendly courteous service and quality food and beverage. That is all most certainly true, but it's more than that for me. It is my past and now it is my legacy. I am thankful to my Grandparents, Edna and Malcolm Ernst for the opportunity. I am grateful to my many dear friends and customers throughout the years that have made Ernst Cafe a success story. And I am also proud to have built on and preserved the Ernst Cafe Legacy. The oldest continually operated business in The Historic Warehouse District. I am especially pleased and encouraged to have the fine people of Creole Cuisine and the Ammari family continue my family's legacy for many years to come.

We were staying at the Loews. We were exhausted and didn't feel like venturing far for dinner. This was a great find! Would go back again!

Worth the rather long wait. Try the Ernster po'boy with beef and fried shrimp. Yum.

It's ok and reasonably priced. Dodgy decor is explained on the pictures. Good atmosphere and good staff.

I will be honest. This place wasn't our first choice but it should have been!! I had bought a GROUPON for some place down the street from Ernst and we were turned away because I wasn't aware of their "dress code" and my husband was wearing a tank top and hat. I would never in a million years think a joint you bought on discount would be worried about us wearing shorts and a tank top in the middle of August. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by the super friendly staff and felt right at home. The drinks were very good and the food was bomb. We had fried green tomato's, gumbo and etoufee. I will be back on my next visit! Thank you for the lovely time.

Loved it. Sat outside and hung out with friends. The staff was attentive the food was good and beers are $1. They also have charbroiled oysters for decent price

OMG!!!! The Pepperjack Boudin Bombers are the bomb!!! Paired with a beer.....oh my gosh. A tad spicy, but super-flavorful. I’d eat these every day if I could. COME HERE!!!!

Was actually looking for another restaurant when we rode by this one. Decided to stop the search and try here and the food was excellent. Blackened Chicken with jambalaya, fried catfish, grilled shrimp, waffle fries, boudin balls... all delicious!!!

Overpriced food and small portions. Staff was friendly but food was bland and expensive. Definitely not a place to eat when super hungry.

Came here for a couple of drinks and decided to order the tacos, which were really delicious. We were told they were new to the menu. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because of the attitude of our waitress. She was a bit weird when we asked her which drinks were part of the happy hour. My husband was having trouble understanding her accent. She was like “you talk talk but you don’t listen” with the hand gestures. A bit odd, but we still laughed though 🤣

Great seafood!

Great selection of eats. Sandwiches are huge. You have to get the queso debris nachos. Full of white queso and roast beef. Boudin balls were tasty and had a good spice to them . Bread pudding was firm and moist, not mushy. Sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar, it was a hit with our group. Service was decent.

Lisa was the best. This place was the best because of her. Thank you. Highly recommend.

Their sweet peach cocktail and Caesar salad were good. The outside seating was great for people watching and they played the best music (mostly 90's hip hop). The waitress was attentive and friendly. I'd go there again.

Close to our favorite hotel and a great way to start our trip after a long day of traveling. Relaxing outdoor seating and a great wait staff, pretty good food too.

Needee to sit down and they are open for dine in. $1 beer today (Saturday 5/30/2020) I ordered the crab cakes and the crawfish etoufee. Im a fan of etoufee here in Nawlins and usually taste the differences in etouffee at various restauraunts. They are open for outside and indoor dining. The prices arent bad either. Lisa helped me alot. Thanks again!

So I have drinks at Ernst Cafe once a week, guaranteed. This place is a the ONLY place I'll go while in the CBD. I'm one of those people that won't go to a chain restaurant and love going to "unique" places and this place definitely fits the bill.Great food, great prices on drinks, absolutely amazing staff.

It's a nice cafe with decent food and drink options. We tried their grilled chicken tenders buffalo style with waffle fries and rice and beans with sausage. Both the items were very good and we enjoyed it. The chicken tenders were nice and juicy and the fries were nice and crispy. The place was pretty quiet at the time we went for brunch. We would certainly like to try other stuff at this cafe and would recommend this place to others.

The service was great and the food was awesome! Got the "taste of Louisiana" meal and I highly recommend it. It tasted amazing!

Great place to party and have drinks and good music

This place has been my friends and I number 1 spot during lockdown. The staff is attentive and super friendly. $1 beers how could you go wrong and the food is real good. Waffle fries Roast beef Poboys Southwest egg rolls burgers.. they serve food until midnight..I could go on and on.. just writing this I am about to go over cause I am getting hungry..

We stepped off in here for lunch. It was off the cuff as we’d never been here before. The outside looked inviting and the inside was typical bar style Nawlins. The Long Island and the gumbo was delicious! Our waitress was amazing as she juggled five tables. We were in town for about 9 days and sadly we didn’t make it back at night.

The waiter was knowledgeable, professional and just as importantly...... executed in a timely manner. The food was everything I could have ask for! I live in metro New Orleans and play tourist quite often and always seen Ernst Cafe, but yet didn't see if you know what I mean. My mistake for that oversight! Will be going back to bring my daughters for a lunch date.

My husband and I are incredibly disappointed with our visit to Ernst Cafe. We walked into the bar and received a cold look from the bartender so we sat at a high top. We waited for a server but there did not seem to be one. The bartender FINALLY greeted us by saying "if you're here with your dog you have to sit outside, I'll send out a server". Although the bartender was not welcoming we still wanted to give it a try, we all have bad days. We sat outside and waited for 15 minutes before we decided nobody was coming. Not to mention there was a total of 5 people inside the building. There was no reason for a wait or to be ignored. In summary I spent 30 minutes at Ernst Cafe and received nothing.

Rex was a very welcoming and attentive bartender. I’ll def be making my way back here when I return to “the big easy.” Side note: great music

This is a friendly cozy and fun place to hang out and have a beer or four. The food is also very very good. Best find for us on our last trip to New Orleans. We will absolutely be back!

Great drinks. This was the only bar we found in NOLA that would sell drinks during the pandemic that didn't require you to order food.

Love their Roast Beef P'boy. The best I have had here so far.

A few friends and I went to Ernst tonight for the first time. 3 of us got the "po boy passport" (a reopening from COVID special), and the 3 others got different sandwiches from the menu. We all loved it! The food was great, and the service was great. If you get Lisa as your server, you've lucked out. I can't wait to go back 😁

Convenient. Fast service. Friendly staff. Patio lunch was perfect as was the weather.

The debris style beef sandwich is a flavor awakening! And the boudin balls here are better than the other restaurants I've tried in New Orleans so far. The recommended local IPA (Holy Roller) was the best IPA I've tasted. Only thing I didn't like was that they didn't stick to their listed hours and I went back on 2 separate nights at different (business) hours and no one would open the doors. But the food and service was excellent. I will be back.

This is one of the most delicious shrimp poboys I have eaten. Service was fast and excelent
